Q: Should I consider VVS1, VVS2 or VS1 clarity for my diamond?
Clarity is something that should be regarded very carefully to ensure we don't exhaust your budget in an area that has no impact on the brilliance of your diamonds but can greatly impact the price. Requiring a colorless VVS1, VVS2 or VS1 stone will increase the cost of the diamond while not really adding "visual value" to it. Unless you strongly desire the clarity of a VVS1 or VVS2 diamond, we recommend that you consider VS2 and SL1 clarity stones. The benefit of these stones is that they offer the possibility of reaching higher carat weight and improved color at the same price point. For example, a G/VS2 stone is the same price per carat as a D/SL1 diamond. The overall benefit is obvious: When you lower the clarity by only one grade, you can improve the color by three grades at no additional cost.
If you do not know the recipient's ring size, customer service can provide you with a ring sizer to ensure accurate sizing. In the unlikely event that your custom-made ring does not fit properly, re-sizing is available for free within 90 days of purchase.
Q: Are all your diamonds conflict free?
Jean Dousset has a zero-tolerance policy toward conflict diamonds. We only purchase diamonds through the largest suppliers who, like us, adhere to and enforce the strict ethical standards established by the Kimberley Process.
Q: What are the advantages of micro-setting?
By surrounding the center stone with a multitude of smaller diamonds, micro-setting enhances the overall perception of your center stone's size. And with more than 35 small prongs encircling the stone, it is extremely safe.
Q: What are the risks of choosing a diamond online based on its certificate?
Round cut diamonds are certainly easier to choose based on their GIA certificate, particularly if the cut, symmetry and polish have an "Excellent" rating. At Dousset Diamonds, however, we prefer to see each diamond in person before recommending a purchase. No two stones are truly alike. Even within the same color/clarity grading, there are always one or two diamonds whose extraordinary brilliance set them apart from the rest. We pride ourselves on finding and selecting only these most outstanding gems for our customers.
Q: Why do you only sell GIA certified diamonds?
The Gemological Institute of America created "the 4Cs" and remains the foremost authority in diamond grading. Where the true value of a stone is concerned, other laboratories may offer misleading gradings.
